Arsenal make first bid to sign Fedy Kadioglu
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with the Gunners at the start of the transfer window. The club have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with the Turkey international.
Nutuk now claims Arsenal have made an initial offer worth £17m for the 24-year-old. Dortmund have made a similar transfer offer for the versatile defender.
Fenerbahce are not keen on selling at that price and are currently asking for £30m, which would be a transfer record for a player from the Super League.
An unlikely deal
Kadioglu started his career as a forward. He is comfortable playing on the wing or in attacking midfield. However, he has since transitioned into a regular defender. The right-footed star can play in either full-back position but is most assuredly playing on the left.
This is a position Arsenal are well covered. Oleksandr Zinchenko started against Bayer Leverkusen but Riccardo Calafiori, Jakub Kiwior ), Jurrien Timber and Takehiro Tomiyasu could also fill the role. There is also Kieran Tierney who is out with a long-term hamstring injury.
With that in mind, we don’t think the Gunners will sign Dutch-born Kadioglu. The speculation could have been initiated by his representatives to bring other European clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, closer to meeting the Istanbul outfit’s demands.
Arsenal are unlikely to make any more defensive signings during the current transfer window. The focus this month is likely to be on strengthening the midfield and center forward departments. Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino appears to be the north London giants’ first-choice midfield target.
The Gunners are not close to signing any striker yet, but that could change if Eddie Nketiah moves to Marseille. The Ligue 1 giants have made Arsenal a new transfer offer for the 25-year-old, who has opened the door to transfers.
