Atletico Madrid vs. Barcelona Player Ratings as Yamal, Lewandowski lead the way
Here are the player ratings This time Barcelona came from behind to beat Atletico Madrid 4-2 at the Wanda Stadium to pick up a vital three points in the La Liga title race.
Atletico Madrid player ratings
Goalkeeper Jan Oblak, 6.0
LB Reinildo, 4.0
Constantly battled at both ends of the pitch but was fortunate not to be sent off for his first-half shenanigans. It’s games like this that make you question whether he’s good enough to be a starter for Atletico Madrid.
Centre-back Clement Lenglet, 7.0
A strong showing in defense of his former employer. He really revolutionized his career.
CB Robin Le Normand, 6.5
The defense is good, but the ball handling ability is not up to standard.
RB Marcos Llorente, 4.0
The right wing is doing terrible. He didn’t contribute anything in Atletico Madrid’s attack and had trouble tracking defenders defensively. He spent most of the game complaining to the referee about insignificant calls.
LM Samuel Lino, 5.5
Made a good run but looked more likely to get a yellow card than score or assist for Atletico.
CM Pablo Barrios, 7.5
Creates chances and defends hard in midfield. Barrios was one of Atletico’s unsung heroes as he excelled in transition.
CM Rodrigo De Paul, 3.0
Oops. The worst player on the field. De Paul failed to complete his passes, was torn to shreds by Pedri defensively, and in the final third of the game, he had so many free kicks and misplaced passes that you could only guess where the ball would end up. He needs to pull himself together or leave this club.
RM Giuliano Simeone, 7.0
With his explosiveness, he picked up an assist and provided a real offensive spark to the right side of the formation, but, boy, does he need to cut back on the meaningless posturing.
ST Julian Alvarez, 6.5
Created a couple of dangerous moments and opened the scoring against a largely empty net, but overall it was just a decent performance from Julian Alvarez.
ST Antoine Griezmann, 7.5
The Atletico Madrid legend once again gave a low-key and brilliant performance. Antoine Griezmann set up Giuliano Simeone’s first goal with a brilliant cross and he also played a key role in the second.
Barcelona player ratings
Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, 6.0
LB Alejandro Balde, 5.5
CB Inigo Martinez, 7.0
Was lucky not to concede a penalty in the first half but overall performed well on both ends of the pitch, including getting into the final third and setting up Robert Lewandowski’s brilliant opening goal for Barcelona.
Paul Kubalci, centre-back, 7.5
His passing was excellent and his defense was solid. He is Barcelona’s best centre-back so far.
RB Jules Kounde, 7.5
The defending level was very high and even saved a goal for Barcelona. He can do it all on the right wing and has grown into a top right back.
CM Pedri, 7.5
Can dominate the midfield at times and create more chances than his teammates. He is a man who dances fast and does all the wonderful things for Barca.
CM Marc Casado, 5.5
He was substituted in the 70th minute as he had minimal impact on the game and failed to defend convincingly against Atletico’s counterattacks.
AM Dani Olmo, 5.5
Created a great chance for Lamine Yamal in the opening minutes but his influence on the game was greatly diminished before he was substituted. Barcelona needs to start seeing more substantial returns from its overinvestment.
LW Rafinha, 7.0
Got an assist for a great cross and defended well throughout. Although the game didn’t start well, he never gave up. Ferran Torres easily got his second assist and scored twice to make it 4-2.
ST Robert Lewandowski, 7.5
He created numerous chances, including a stunning opening goal where he stopped with his chest and half-volleyed the ball beautifully into the left corner behind Jan Oblak. Even when he looks to be going quiet, La Liga’s leading scorer can still make a difference.
RW Ramin Yamal, 7.5
Missed three great chances but made up for it with a brilliant winner from outside the box. Even when Yamal wasn’t in form, he still completed more dribbles than anyone else on the pitch and outplayed other players. And he’s also very good defensively.
