Barcelona Interested in Selling 19-Year-Old Star

Barcelona has been doing everything it can to secure the registrations of new signings Marcus Rashford and Juan García, part of which is streamlining the squad. Several young players have already been sold, and Yann Vigilli could be next.

The recently turned 19-year-old winger, capable of playing on both flanks, has been in blistering form over the past six months. He helped Barcelona qualify for the UEFA Youth League and was a highlight of the final four months of Barca’s season, arguably providing more threat than any other player. Vigilli continued this form at the U19 European Championship, playing a key role in the semi-final against Germany.

Girona and Real Mallorca Interested

Last week, it was reported that Real Mallorca, following the signing of Pablo Torre, were interested in signing Vigilli from Barcelona. This news followed reports that Mallorca had extended a loan offer to Vigilli and that Girona was also interested in the Catalan young talent.

Barcelona Willing to Sell Virgilio

Despite Barcelona’s desperate efforts to renew Virgilio’s contract until 2027 last season, despite interest from Saudi Arabia, it now appears they are willing to lose him—albeit this time with financial compensation. According to the Daily Mail, Barcelona prefers a sale over a loan and is willing to reach a deal.

They want to ensure they retain some control over Virgilio’s future. Torre’s transfer fee was €5 million, but Barcelona retained a €25 million buy-back option and 50% of the transfer fee. Virgilio’s move could follow a similar pattern. It’s reported that the youngster is open to a move to Yagoba Arrasat’s side.

Competition at Barcelona

Vigilio trained with the first team during the first few days of preseason, but transfer rumors began to circulate after his return to preseason training at Atlético Barcelona. The arrival of Marcus Rashford means Virgilio has two established internationals in front of him, including Rafinha, and his opportunities may be limited under Hansi Flick.
