Chelsea is in talks for the Ajax defender

Prominent journalist Fabrizio Romano recently posted a video on YouTube, claiming Chelsea is in talks for Ajax defender Jorel Harto this summer. Romano stated:
“Chelsea is in talks for Harto and Xavi Simons. They can’t always close a deal within 24 hours. Sometimes you need to negotiate and discuss.”
“For Harto, for example, Chelsea is using an old contract Arsenal had with Julian Timber several years ago—same position, same club—as the transfer fee. They want €40 million, which was their intention during negotiations with Ajax. Ajax wants more, so the matter is still under discussion. Chelsea is optimistic because the player has made it clear he wants to leave and has told Chelsea.
“I have a feeling the deal will happen. The relationship between the two clubs is very good.” ”
Hato’s Rapid Rise in Dutch Football
Hato has enjoyed a stellar season for his Dutch club, excelling defensively and contributing a series of impressive performances. The Dutch prodigy made 50 appearances for Ajax last season, scoring three goals and providing six assists in all competitions.
The 19-year-old excelled in interior defense in the Eredivisie, completing 58 tackles, 35 blocks, and 22 interceptions. He also distributed possession well, achieving a pass completion rate of 89.4% in the Eredivisie (data from fbref.com).
Chelsea are in talks about a transfer for Hato: Is he a future star?
Hato is a defensively aggressive winger. A defender capable of making crucial interceptions at the back, he’s not afraid to clear the defense when necessary and even play from deep.
The young Dutchman is capable of creating some excellent scoring opportunities for his teammates down the left wing. While primarily deployed at left-back, Hartog is also capable of playing at center-back when necessary. However, there are still concerns about his ability to adapt smoothly to the Premier League.
Hartog is already a quality player who could be a valuable rotational player for Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca. At just 19 years old, he has the potential to be a future star for the west London club. Therefore, the Blues should complete his signing as soon as possible.
Hartog is undoubtedly a rising star to watch and would be an ideal long-term signing for Chelsea.
