Chelsea plan to approach Manchester City this week to discuss a move for Oscar Bobb this summer, according to Simon Phillips on Substack. The former club will be hoping to replicate Cole Palmer’s success with the youngster.

Oscar Bobb doesn’t get enough game time

Oscar Bobb joined Manchester United in the summer of 2019. He is considered an exciting talent and certainly has the potential to become an elite attacker in the coming years.

However, Bobb’s playing time at the Etihad Stadium has been limited due to the intensity of the competition. He only played 26 games last season, scoring 2 goals and providing the same number of assists. He averaged 0.4 shots per game, 0.7 key passes, and 0.8 dribbles (data from whoscored).

The Norwegian forward is a versatile player who can play in all positions on the offensive line. Technique, dribbling, ball control and creativity are some of his strengths. He also exploits the space in the final third by making runs out of the backfield.

Do Manchester City dare to sell Oscar Bobb?

Chelsea have been active in the transfer window so far as they look to strengthen their squad. They certainly need a wide range of players as Mihajlo Mudric and Noni Maduk have been inconsistent. As a result, the club has shown interest in signing Oscar Bobb.

They made an instant splash last season when they signed Cole Palmer from Manchester City. The Blues are hoping to replicate that model with Bobb and even plan to approach his club.

The 21-year-old generates excitement every time he takes the field, but his development has been somewhat hampered by limited game time. Therefore, a move to Stamford Bridge could be a profitable decision at the moment.

On the other hand, this would be a gamble signing for Chelsea. Players may start falling over or failing miserably. However, first they need to reach an agreement with the current Premier League champions.
