Former defender thinks Leeds United ‘don’t look right’
Former defender Scott Minto believes Leeds United “didn’t look right” and are not winning the title as expected.

Daniel Farke led Leeds United to a 2-2 draw with Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Saturday, a game in which Leeds came back from 2-0 down to win.

Now, the competition for the ranking in the Champions League standings is extremely fierce. Although Leeds United is at the top of the list, Sheffield United has the same points as them, and Burnley is only two points behind in third place.

Leeds fans are now increasingly worried about a repeat of last season, when the club ran out of steam towards the end of the campaign and were forced to settle for third place.

That meant reaching the play-offs but losing in the final, and Leeds will be desperate to avoid a similar situation this season.

The much-publicised Falk has often been criticised for waiting too long to make substitutions during matches, but Minto believes this is not the case at QPR.

The former defender does believe Willy Gnonto should be starting over Brenden Aaronson at Loftus Road, saying “look at the squad they have, the players they have, the depth they have.”

“Looking at the bench and the players they put on, it’s fair to say that Daniel Farke was very proactive at half-time; that goal, to make it 2-1, didn’t have an impact on the substitution.

“People will ask whether Gnotto should have started instead of Aaronson. At least at half-time, his performance was crucial.”

“I don’t blame him for waiting so long for [Largie] Ramazani to come on because I thought Manor Solomon looked dangerous on the left.

“I’m certainly not criticising his substitutions here.”

However, when considering the squad Farke had to call upon, Minto admitted something did not look right at Leeds.

He is well aware that Leeds United have every reason to win the title given the calibre of players at Elland Road.

“Yeah, it doesn’t look right.

“If you look at it on paper they didn’t run away the way they should have, if you look at the goal difference they were very potent in attack and in terms of numbers they were actually pretty good defensively.

“But when you look at the situation in which the goal was scored today, QPR had the chance to win the game.”

On paper, Leeds appear to have an easier time than many other teams playing clubs in the bottom half of the table and Farke will be hoping they can comfortably secure automatic promotion.
