Spurs suffer blow, says “Rodrigo prefers Liverpool”
Rodrigo could leave Real Madrid this summer, with the club having already said they are willing to sign him for €90m.
The winger’s mind remains on Real Madrid, and he is about to enter talks with the club over his future.
Spurs are very interested, and they are trying to negotiate a lower transfer fee, and they may be encouraged by the possibility that Rodrigo will not block the sale.
Spurs are wary of possible competition from Liverpool, who are in the process of selling Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich.
Now, another worrying development for Spurs is that “Rodrigo prefers Liverpool”, according to Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez Demon.
Bayern Munich could have used part of the €35m fee to pay for Liverpool’s Diaz transfer, which would then have been used to fight for Rodrygo against Spurs.
Spurs also signed Kevin Danso on a permanent basis and signed young Japanese defender Kota Takai.
If Liverpool do sign the Brazilian winger, it looks like he would prioritize Liverpool over Spurs.
Liverpool made a big splash in the transfer window this summer, making up for last summer’s silence and backing Arne Sloter.
They are trying to bring in Alexander Isak from Newcastle United for a transfer fee that could well set a British record.
The Merseyside giants have already spent more than £100m on Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
In addition to selling Diaz, Liverpool are also expected to offload Darwin Nunez, who has failed to reach his peak form at Anfield.
Spurs brought in Mehmet Kudus from West Ham United this summer, while also retaining Matisse Terr from Bayern Munich on a permanent basis.
