Vincent Kompany wants to maintain the highest standards at Bayern Munich

It’s not every day that Bayern Munich sign a Burnley manager, let alone one who was relegated in his only season in the Premier League. So when Vincent Kompany was asked whether he could cope with Bayern’s expectations, a club that wants to win every game, the question wasn’t entirely unfair. But Kompany doesn’t think the jump is as big as most think.

After all, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, he said the desire to win remains as strong as ever: “Why would you change your mentality because you work for a different club? You should always want to win every game. I It’s been like this since youth. I was born with this mentality and the club couldn’t expect more from myself. I think we are very suitable.

It would have been easy to say that before Bayern faced the crucible of the Bundesliga or the Champions League, before the pressure for perfection began to mount from all sides. But as long as he can maintain higher expectations of himself than the club does, then maybe he’ll be fine.
